                                             FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1. Where from this name Solid Rock?

Solid Rock is the name chosen by the founders of the company to symbolize our basic ideology that it is hightime a solid foundation is laid which is as firm as a rock by which  relationships could be formed and nurtured between businesses, their customers and the providers and consumers of healthcare in a typical developing country such as Ghana.

Q2. The idea of linking travel tourism and healthcare is laudable but I find it difficult to see how the funding is going to be obtained

Solid Rock believes the average customer for a travel company is already in the middle class of the population, at least in the developing world. As such, it is much easier to raise funds from them and other organizations for the support of the healthcare programs. All one will need is a good customer relationship and sound and transparent management of the resources and make the right noises to make a case for what we need to do.

Besides I have spoken to a lot of my colleagues still living abroad. Most are prepared to help if they can find the right vehicle or platform. We can provide that provided we manage the funds responsibly

Q3 How do all these charitable activities help Solid Rock?

The founder and CEO of Solid Rock is himself a doctor trained in Ghana and has been seeking greener pastures in the UK while his own relatives are dying back home for lack of adequate healthcare.By forming a company which is actively making money and promoting healthcare in Ghana he will be supporting the healthcare of Ghanaians indirectly. Besides, all the funds we will spend on charitable activities will help reduce out tax anyway.

Q4 If you are a doctor and want to form a company why does it have to be a travel company in the first place?

You see, one of the longterm strategic aims is not only to encourage Ghanaian doctors 'stuck abroad' to come home to help care for Ghanaians, but to be actively involved in assisting them in planning their journeys, meet them on arrival, help them move around the country to look around and have a bit of fun. These will be the pecks to entice them to come in the absence of a legislation to repatriate all doctors from the various countries to return home. We will be limited in what help we can offer if we are just running clinics or hospitals as most doctors do.

Q5 Can you explain the 'Hospital Befriending Scheme' further?

It is a scheme designed to establish a permanent supportive relationship between various hospitals and their potential donors. All Solid Rock will do is to find out which hospitals need help and are willing to have their names etc and needs published on the internet. The donors will contact the hospitals directly to establish what and how to donate. Solid Rock will only be involved again if requested.

Q6 What assistance will you give to doctors already working in Ghana?

Since will have a close link with airlines we can 'lobby' them for cheap or even free tickets and possibly get other companies to bear other expenses for a short break abroad such as two months elective for the doctor. Remember airlines and other companies need such publicity to maintain a 'human face'. We can exploit that if we have the right connections and make the right noises. This is where Solid Rock comes in. As a doctor and CEO, it easier to make a case for a colleague with airlines if I am already have a close business connection with them.
